In fantasy football why do the defense get penalized for "points allowed"when the other defense scores?

Yahoo! and most Fantasy Football services don't differentiate between which squad scores the points. All they look at is the total score at the end of the game. With the same reasoning, when an offense gets hit with a safety that's points against their own defense who was sitting on the bench.

Your commish didnt change it....so people believe that when there is an INT that gets run back for a TD it goes against the defense because now the offense becomes the defense on that play...but most leagues, the commish can change it to offensive points only
